~ Colorful Crow Cares ~
Colorful Crow Cares exists to place beautiful, meaningful books into the hands of children who need comfort, hope, and a sense of belonging—especially during life’s most tender seasons. By donating books in honor of the children and families we serve, we share stories that nurture resilience, imagination, and love, one child at a time. Below, we present a couple of current projects and activities.

The Memory Nook
In loving memory of Ansley Sproull Morrison. In honor of her son, Jack.
Stories have a remarkable way of helping us through life's most difficult moments. They give children words for emotions they cannot yet name, reassure families that they are not alone, and gently remind us that hope can be found, even in grief.
The Memory Nook at the Calhoun-Gordon County Library was created by Colorful Crow Cares to be that kind of place.
This cozy reading corner features a thoughtfully selected collection of children's books about loss, love, remembrance, resilience, and healing. Families are invited to slow down, sit together, and discover stories that offer comfort when it is needed most.
The Memory Nook was established in loving memory of Ansley Sproull Morrison and in honor of her young son, Jack. Through this space, Ansley's legacy continues to touch the lives of children and families throughout our community.
Our hope is that every child who visits The Memory Nook leaves knowing they are seen, loved, and never alone.
As Ansley's mother shared after visiting the completed nook:
"I stopped by the library this morning to visit the memory corner. It's just lovely, Vickie, and I have no doubt it will provide much comfort to people of all ages going forward. Thank you again for your thoughtfulness towards Jack and his family."
The Memory Nook is the first permanent community project of Colorful Crow Cares, whose mission is:
Colorful Crow Cares exists to place beautiful, meaningful books into the hands of children who need comfort, hope, and a sense of belonging—especially during life's most tender seasons. By donating books in honor of the children and families we serve, we share stories that nurture resilience, imagination, and love, one child at a time.
We believe every child deserves a story that reminds them they are not walking alone.
Because every child deserves a story of hope.
A Book Bag Full of New Beginnings
When a neighbor reached out to our subdivision asking for clothing and shoes for an emergency foster care placement, I couldn't help but think about something else a child might need.
Books.
Being placed in foster care often happens suddenly. A child may leave behind familiar toys, treasured books, and everything that feels like home. While others gathered clothing and necessities, Colorful Crow Cares gathered stories.
We filled a canvas tote with books for every mood and interest—from picture books and early readers to nonfiction and adventure—hoping to give one young boy something that belonged just to him.
Along with the books, we included a tote that reads:
"I'm not a bookworm. I'm a Book Dragon."
Because every child deserves adventures to escape into, characters to befriend, and stories that remind them they're brave enough to face whatever comes next.
Sometimes the smallest gifts can become the greatest comfort.
